What to buy Chefs | Gifts for Beginner Chefs 2020 | Gift Ideas for Every Chef

As a 30-something old chef, I have many memories of geeking out over new kitchen stuff.

Sometimes they are new gadgets, or sometimes they are those old kitchen staples that you would find in Julia Child's home.

If you are shopping for a young chef who loves the kitchen, or a loved one who just loves to cook, I want to help you out.

Below are some of my favorite cooking gadgets, cookware and all things kitchen.

This list is for those that can spend hours in the kitchen and forget about time. They get so into their craft, art, and the science of cooking. It's a true love affair.

I hope this list is useful for picking out that gift for your special someone.

Before you scroll through the list, take a moment to think what kind of chef are you shopping for...

Are they more into the science of cooking, or are they more into the art and discovering new flavor combinations?

If you're buying for a more science-driven chef, a thick cookbook like Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat and a new kitchen gadgets will be most appreciated.

If your chef is more of the artistic kind, they might appreciate a new cookbook like Ottolenghi Flavor or would love to get a pot that has memories, like the heavy Le Creuset that will last their whole lifetime.

So, first identify what kind of chef you are shopping for.

Today, there is also the content creator, or chef that films him or herself cooking (like me). In that case, a phone stand would be really appreciated and doesn't cost much. It would validate his or her craft by making it easier to film and post their cooking journey online.

With those thoughts in mind, take a peek at the list and see what might spark their joy.
